Cold plunges · 8 minute guide

Which cold-plunge specifications actually matter?

A field-by-field guide to tub fit, filled weight, cooling, sanitation, filtration, insulation, power, drainage, and service.

Quick answer

Prioritize user fit, filled weight, actual operating range, cooling capacity or rate, ambient limits, insulation, circulation, filter access, sanitation, drainage, electrical load, condenser clearance, freeze protection, parts, and warranty. A very low claimed set point is not useful if the system cannot hold it in your climate or stay clean.

The ownership hierarchy

The best spec sheet explains the whole water loop. Look for pump, flow, filter micron and size, sanitation method, hose and port sizes, drain, cover, coil clearance, freeze behavior, and consumables. Missing fields should reduce confidence rather than invite guessing.

  • Calculate filled load.
  • Measure safe entry and shoulder depth.
  • Ask for cooling performance assumptions.
  • Price a year of filters and sanitizer.

Sources and evidence labels

Official sources support product facts; research sources support broader safety or physiology context; community-pattern links identify recurring owner questions and are not treated as product proof.
